On Saturday, August 31, 2013, the Pima Air & Space Museum is offering the first ever (and supposedly only) Saturday tours of the AMARG, which is often referred to as the airplane boneyard. The unique Saturday offering of tours will include tours at 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3 p.m. The tours last about 90 minutes in an air conditioned motorcoach.
For the August 31, 2013 tours there will be a special price of $5 for Pima County residents. Reservations can be made by calling 520-574-0462. Note that museum admission is not required to take the tour unless you plan to also visit the museum that day.
The AMARG/Boneyard tour begins at the museum, but goes to the boneyard on the David-Monthan Air Force Base, which requires the usual security procedures that include checking in an hour before the tour and having a government-issued ID for anyone over 16.
