It’s been almost two weeks since Universal Pictures and Focus Features announced Charlie Hunnam’s exit from the role of Christian Grey in the movie adaption of E.L. James’ erotic best-seller “Fifty Shades of Grey”, but the topic continues to trend.
From major news outlets CNN, The Wall Street Journal and Variety Magazine to Huffington Post in the blogosphere, the world has gone Fifty Shades of Crazy. Not surprising however, as 7500 Grey fans were outraged enough to sign a petition expressing dissatisfaction with the original casting of Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson instead of Matt Bomer and Alexis Bledel.
The supporters shouted at the top of their lungs like Republicans opposing Obamacare, using social media as their voice. When producer Dana Brunetti’s response didn’t satisfy them, they made an attempt at a production shut down by lobbying at change.org.
"There is a lot that goes into casting that isn't just looks. Talent, availability, their desire to do it, chemistry with other actor, etc.,"say Brunetti.
"So if your favorite wasn't cast, then it is most likely due to something on that list. Keep that in mind while hating and keep perspective."
The media is a buzz about the recent casting announcement of Jamie Dornan as the new Christian Grey. While there hasn’t been any signs of a production coup by over zealous “Fifty Shades of Grey” fans, here’s a list of potential Dornan replacements in case of an uprising. Diverse in nature, this top five list of actors overlooked during the search for Christian Grey, may cause a little political unrest as well.
