Keeping children interested in reading is sometimes difficult. You want them to love the books that they’re being given, but finding something that they’ll love is hard! You can’t predict the books that your children will fall in love with compared to the ones that they will hate on first sight, nor can you predict which ones will catch their fancy and their imagination for years versus the ones that will leave them bored out of their minds and disinterested.
One of the best ways to pick out a book that your child will love is to rely on favorite characters. If your child watches television, or has brothers and sisters who do, they may have found some favorites there already. They might have developed a deep love for certain books and the characters in them. Or they may have favorite toys—dolls, stuffed animals, or plastic toys—that they will love to see in new stories and activities.
