Imagine thinking a thought and transmitting it, or looking at something and transmitting a photo of it without voice commands and without pushing buttons on a fingerpad. Google Glass and other eyewearables in development may bring the hands-free revolution into full bloom. One way of doing this is by enabling the eye to perform computing functions. Eye gazing at an augmented reality menu can be detected by eye tracking technology that distinguishes the user's intention of operating the device versus viewing the environment. Several patents have been awarded and patent applications have been filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office that showcase the future of eyewearable technology.
