'Escape from Planet Earth' hits Humboldt County theaters

A new animated film starring the voice talents of Sarah Jessica Parker, Brendan Fraser, Sofia Vergara and others opens around the country on Fri., Feb. 15. "Escape from Planet Earth" is directed by Cal Brunker and is released by The Weinstein Company. It is the story of Scorch Supernova and his almost god-like status on a planet called Baab. When he responds to an SOS from a dangerous alien planet, the real adventure begins.

Starring as Scorch Supernova is Brendan Fraser, known for his role in the "Mummy" film series. Also starring in the animated family film is Sofia Vergara as Gabby Babblerock, Sarah Jessica Parker as Kira Supernova, Rob Corddry as Scorch's brother Gary and Jonathan Morgan Heit as Kip Supernova. Ricky Gervais and Jessica Alba also lend their voices to the children's movie as Mr. James Bing and Lena Thackleman, respectively.

The film, which can be seen in Humboldt County at the Fortuna Theatre, Broadway Cinema in Eureka and Mill Creek Cinema in McKinleyville, is rated PG for action and some mild rude humor. It can be viewed in both 3D and 2D at all local theaters.
