Orange,Texas- Bass angling Pro Cliff Pace brought in the new year and the end of the 2012 Elite season with the Bassmaster Classic Championship giving the new fishing season plenty to talk about. The Championship itself in Tulsa, Oklahoma and fishing in the freezing temperatures shed light on fishing in the freshwater cold depths of Grand Lake but not even close to fresh water ice fishing.
Starving for bass bites not a chance
The number of bass in the fishery is proof of the quality of water. Bullhead minnows, ghost shiners and red shiners lead the way for the bass to feed and the Pro anglers to get bites. Dennis Tietje blew his motor out an hour after takeoff. By 9 AM CT according to Live Blog, Ish Monroe and Bill Lowen already have keepers.
100 boaters go to work
Sabine river is always an adventure. The Elite Series opener on Sabine River is March 14-17 and rumor has it the Pros will be packing some miles in to make the early morning fish that turn a deaf ear by noontime. During February the spawning is usually over with, there’s been a lot of rain it possible it’s pushed them back. If it settles down it could stabilize and some big stringers could be brought in.
A Classic berth and points are on the line in Orange, Texas.
