This afternoon, Sunday, Sept 22, 2013, The Tenth Life Cat Rescue held their eighth annual dinner and auction at VFW Post 8312 at 2389 Dayton-Xenia Road in Beavercreek. A delicious lasagna dinner (vegetarian or not, your choice), a salad bar, rolls and butter, dessert, and tea, water or coffee were provided for a ten dollar donation (you could get salad bar, rolls, dessert and drink for only six dollars if you so desired). Soft drinks were available for a seventy-five cent donation.
The silent auction offered dozens of tables laden with items of every description, including gift certificates from dozens of area merchants including Ritter's, Dayton art venues, Red Lobster restaurant, Graeter’s ice cream, Mongolian Grill, Town & County shopping center, The Greene, Drs. Foster & Smith, the Cincinnati zoo, Columbus zoo, Newport Aquarium and many others.
Merchandise ranged from artwork to house wares, from baskets of coffees and teas, to petcare items, gifts for children and baskets of items for gardeners and bird-watchers. A live auction was held from 5pm to 6 pm, with much enthusiastic bidding on various items including Disney vacations, Caribbean vacations and Mexican holidays. All proceeds go to support the abandoned cats and kittens at the no-kill shelter;
The Tenth Life shelter is run completely by volunteers – the only paid member is the full-time veterinarian. Auction attendees could view some of the current and past rescued cats cared for by The Tenth Life on the big-screen monitors and The Tenth Life merchandise (tee shirts, sweat shirts, etc) was available for purchase as well.
If you missed this wonderful event, you will want to make plans to attend next year’s event!
