Easter: "Blessed is the King!"(Luke 19:38 & John 3:16)

The Easter season is quickly approaching with next week being Palm Sunday. Easter baskets, stuffed bunnies, and candy are available in the stores. New outfits and shoes are on the shopping list for some. All of these traditions are mostly apart the memories from childhood. Please remember the Easter egg hunt with the real and plastic eggs. Several local events are happening such as the Columbia Parks and Recreation and Destiny Church event. Also, the annual Passion of Jesus Christ dramas are being hosted in the local church. It is the time of year when individuals can choose a congregation to attend Easter service.

What is Easter really about? Is it eggs, candy, new clothes, or attending a Church service? The Bible is the only truthful resource for celebrating and the commemoration of the Easter season. Palm Sunday is the recognition of when Jesus, the King, traveled to Jerusalem on a donkey. The worshippers placed palm branches on His route. The Scripture records the crowd shouting, “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”(Luke 19:38)

The Easter story unfolded as Jesus was arrested, falsely accused, tried in court, and sentenced to death. What a drama right? Jesus, God’s only Son, was getting the death penalty. He went to the cross and suffered a criminal’s punishment. He did it for the world. Jesus died for everyone! The lawbreakers, sinners, the unrighteous, and everyone else deserve death eternally, but God. Death could not hold Jesus, the Right One, so He arose on the third day. He lives! God gave Jesus so believers will live with Him forever. Challenge: Believer, tell 5 people the truth about Easter.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
