9th Annual Earth Day in the Junction Celebration

Sunday, April 6th from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

This celebration of Earth Day includes a diverse group of exhibitors, children’s activities, live music, 5K Run/Walk, and Children’s Fun Run. Although the races cost money, spectating and cheering the runners is free and entertaining. Observing races can spark an interest in youth, and raises the morale of the runners.

Families can visit exhibits and enjoy live music and activities in the West Des Moines Community Center, 217 5th St., and Green Grounds Café, 117 5th St., from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm.

The Hooked on Bugs Children’s Activity, from Metro Arts metroarts.org Green Arts Program, will run from 9 am – 12 pm. This fun children’s activity will include making bugs out of recycled materials.

This event was founded by the Historic Valley Junction Foundation and the Center on Sustainable Communities.
