Drug sweep nets five arrests in Rockmart

Ashford Wayne Nettles, 34, of 715 West Church Street in Rockmart was arrested by Polk County Police Officer Lloyd and charged with felony possession of cocaine, felony possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, misdemeanor possession of drug related objects, felony possession of schedule IV drug (alprazolam), felony possession of schedule III drug (hydrocodone) and misdemeanor drugs not in original container. Nettles remains in custody at the time of this publication. Six property bonds totaling $21,100 have been set.Winston Lamar Mitchell Jr., 22, of 733 Church Street in Rockmart was arrested by Polk County Police Officer Lloyd and charged with felony possession of cocaine, felony possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, misdemeanor possession of drug related objects, felony possession of schedule IV drug (alprazolam), felony possession of schedule III drug (hydrocodone) and misdemeanor drugs not in original container. Mitchell was released earlier today after posting six property bond in the amount of $28,600.Michaiah Patrice J. Five individuals were arrested on drug related charges during a search of the above residence, located at 302 2nd Street in Rockmart.The Narcotics Enforcement Team had been receiving information regarding the illegal distribution of illegal narcotics at 302 2nd Street.  This information was sufficient enough to allow officers to secure a search warrant for the residence.Three Rockmart residents and two Taylorsville residents were arrested during the search.

On Tuesday, agents of the Polk County Police Departments drug task force arrested five area residents on multiple dangerous drug possession and distribution charges.

The drugs seized include the schedule IV prescription drug alprazolam (Xanax), schedule III prescription drug hydrocodone and cocaine. Alprazolam and hydrocodone are legal with a doctor’s prescription however; if they are found to be in a person’s possession without a valid prescription and not in the original container they become felony drug charges.

The arrests include three Rockmart residents and two Taylorsville residents.

Identity theft, robbery, burglary, domestic violence and shoplifting are just a few of the crimes that have increased due to the use of illegal drugs such as meth, cocaine and prescription drug addictions.

  • Terrance Lee Warren, 32, of 332 Wade Road in Taylorsville was arrested by Polk County Police Officer Lloyd and charged with felony possession of cocaine, felony possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, misdemeanor possession of drug related objects, felony possession of schedule IV drug (alprazolam) and misdemeanor drugs not in original container.Warren remains in custody at the time of this publication. Six property bonds totaling $21,100 have been set.
