Dr. Ian Smith, a co-host of “The Doctors,” a frequent guest on the “Rachael Ray” show and author of a series of healthy living books, is expanding his Shred brand with a line of protein bars, popcorn and a workout DVD.
The diet is built on the foundation of meal spacing, snacking, meal replacement and diet confusion to take off weight.
Shred Pop popcorn
Smart snacking is an integral part of the Shred plans, and Dr. Smith has come up with two grab-and-go products that provide protein and fiber.
Snackers can try Shred Pop, single-serve bags that come in Honey BBQ, Sea Salt, Kettle & White Cheddar flavors. Each bag is 100 calories with 4 grams of fiber.
Also for snacks or a post-workout mini-meal are his Shred Bars, which come in Supreme Peanut, Triple Chocolate, Cinnamon Oatmeal & Cocoa Mint flavors. They are 160 calories and have 15 grams of protein.
We tried the bars and the popcorn and liked them both. We’re especially keen on the popcorn, in that you get a large serving for a small amount of calories.
Shred 27 Burn Cardio Workout DVD
Another integral part of the Shred plan is efficient exercise, and Dr. Smith leads exercisers in the Shred 27 Burn Cardio Workout DVD, which is available on his Shred Lifestyle website. The DVD, which sells for $14.99 plus shipping, is a 27-minute high intensity interval training (HIIT) workout that provides an intense cardio workout in a short period of time.
The workout is tough but easy to follow and can be modified for beginners. Dr. Smith leads the exercisers in a no-nonsense gym setting and is friendly and encouraging.
