Down syndrome can occur in all races, ethnicity, economic levels, as well as the age of the parents. Down syndrome is the most common genetic condition at this time. One in every 691 babies in the US are born with a form of Down Syndrome.
Physical traits of Down syndrome are low muscle tone, small stature, an upward slant to the eyes, and a single deep crease across the center of the palm. All individuals are unique. Each person with Down syndrome is also unique, and may not possess all of these characteristics the same way, or none at all.
3/21 World Down Syndrome Day
As of 2012, United Nations began holding World Down Syndrome day on March 21st (3/21).
World Down Syndrome Day is to spread awareness and education to individuals who might have many misunderstandings about the full potential individuals with Down syndrome possess.
Down syndrome is a genetic condition, not an illness. This condition affects the 21st chromosome. Down syndrome occurs when an individual has a full or partial extra copy of chromosome 21. There are 3 different forms of Down syndrome: Trisomy (most common), Translocation, Mosaicism.

Potential to be a Doctor
