A dome of stable, cool, Canadian high pressure will build into the region to close out the shortened work week today. The fair weather maker will stay with us through the first half of the weekend, sliding east of the region on Saturday. This movement will allow a weak, moisture starved, cold front to drop southward through the area late on Saturday evening and into Sunday morning. At this point, it appears as if the region may only see an increase in cloud cover with the frontal passage, with chances of widely scattered showers more confined to the north-country. Temperatures are forecast to remain below normal through this period.
A breezy and cool day looks to be in store for Sunday, as another Canadian high pressure area builds into the Capital Region. A moderation is temperatures is expected to begin as we start the new work week, and once again, high pressure slides southeast of the region, allowing a southerly flow to bring in the milder air. A series of fast moving frontal systems approaches the region for the midweek period next week. Along with the chance for some showers will also come some warmer temperatures, with a cool down expected as we head toward the end of next week.
