Bassist Vincent Ramos of Neverwonder submitted the group’s new (2012) number "Spinning" which he says “is about love . . .when you see someone and the whole world gets crazy, You are so in love you are nervous and everything starts to spin and get out of control in a good way.”Layla Long submitted “Because the Night” as covered by the L.A. heavy metal band Keel.   The original was co-written by Patti Smith and Bruce Springsteen.  It was first released by the Patti Smith Group in 1978.  It rose to number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.  Keel covered it in 1986. The title itself- “Dancing in the Sheets”-was inspired by my Facebook friend Steve Delp who used the phrase when explaining the concept to another online acquaintance.   Here is the newest group of responses:New York City-based singer-songwriter Abhay Singh suggests "In My Dreams" from his 2012 album Day Music because it’s “about falling in love and driving around the city as young lovers”.  View the list »

“Music hath charms to sooth the savage breast”. It also often has charms to make ladies bare them. Your crusty chronicler, of course, being the shy, innocent white boy he is, would never think of suggesting creating a sexual seduction soundtrack.

Still, the sounds that turn us on was an interesting idea for a fun-filled filler article. L.A. based musicians, East Coast artists and many music fans were polled about tunes that turn them on, songs they heard when they “batter-dipped the corn-dog” and music they listen to while they were “bumping fuzzies”. Surprisingly, the response was so great the one shot article is now a series.

  • The lovely, late Tina Miller likes “Right Round”.  She said it’s the “all time strip song”.  The song is performed by rapper Flo Rida and guest vocalist Kesha.  The 2009 track is about falling for a stripper and adapts its chorus from the 1984 Dead or Alive tune "You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)" and refers to oral sex. 
  • New Blues Revolution submitted their new (2012) song “Sway”.  They say it’s “a ‘come hither’ song which starts at the end of the day and continues into the night – together.  It is the movement of one, which becomes the movement of two – together – slipping it off and slipping it on.”
