Fashion designer Daisy Fuentes presented her Spring Summer 2014 womenswear runway show during New York Fashion Week Spring 2014. The fashion show celebrated her ten year anniversary exclusive partnership with Kohl's. Ms. Fuentes is former model that rose to fame as an MTV VJ in the nineties. She is one of the few celebrities that has been able to remain the fashion industry for a decade.
One of the most noticeable, and truly wonderful feature in the fashion show was the diversity of beautify presented with the clothes and the models. Daisy Fuentes used an impressive amount of beautiful black and brown models, along with Asian and white; in an industry that predominately presents mostly white models. The clothes were just as diverse. Malibu beach and barefoot luxury was the theme behind the collection.
A colorful sexy, yet tasteful dress is a cut-out maxi dress in "escondido" printed crepe de chine. It's flowy, feminine and shows a lot of skin. Another very eye catching look is a cropped camisole in crepe de chine, palazzo pant in "pacific coast" striped crepe de chine. The pattern is almost hypnotic. Its an example of the designers use of a modernist palette of black, white, and later ochre. A very sensual look is a cropped camisole in satin, with wrap skirt in cotton eyelet.
Malibu surf culture certainly has a very important part of this collection. Beach wear is incorporated into daywear. One of the best examples is a baja pullover in dry cotton knit and cotton eyelet, worn with a white bikini bottom. A rich blue crepe de chine, asymmetrical beach gown floated like air down the runway.
