Owning a cell phone in today's world is a necessity to many. Many have even given up having a landline phone in favor of having a cell phone. They are convenient, fun and sometimes pretty addicting. They can also be very expensive. The good news is owning a cell phone doesn't have to break the bank.
There are several ways to cut your bill in half if you are willing to cut the apron strings from the over-priced contract companies and switch over to pre-paid. Pre-paid cell service has gotten a bad rap through the years. In the past, anyone that did not want to be tied to a plan had very few choices (Tracfone and the like) however if you used anymore than a few minutes a month, the service could get expensive.
Pre-paid has come a long way in the past few years, even the big boys like Verizon and ATT offer pre-paid services for the folks who don't want or need an expensive plan. Tracfone is still a front runner in the prepaid game, and their service has gotten more affordable, but there are a lot more options out there.
You can have dependable pre-paid service for as little as $10 per month, combine your service with Wi-Fi and Google Voice you can have internet service and free talk and texting as well. The downside is if you don't have an old phone handy you will need to purchase one either from the service provider of your choosing or from Ebay or Amazon or other source.
