Expectations are high in Stillwater with the opening of spring football practice on Monday, March 11, 2013. In addition to starting spring ball, coach Mike Gundy announced the addition of a coach and pro day is set for Tuesday, March 12.
Spring Practice will be Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays through mid-April and the spring game is set for April 20. Spring break is next week and there will be no practice.
On Monday players were in helmets and no pads as they went through drills.
Gundy said he was pleased with the way the players approached the game, and how they moved around on the first day Monday. He said he saw what he had hoped to see.
“Their attitude and body language are the two most important things that we do every day. I was impressed with that. Of course, some guys got lined up wrong and we need to throw and catch better and be in the right spot on defense. That’s what spring ball is for, giving young guys quality reps. Their attitude and body language was a positive.”
There are a few new coaches, with new offensive and defensive coordinators. Players and coaches get a chance to get a feel for each other in the Spring, which makes the transition easier in the fall.
