The Construction Trades Program of the School District of Palm Beach County in association with the Florida Training Services, Inc. will present an ‘open house’ to give students the opportunity to learn about the Multi Trade Construction Program, see demonstrations using equipment and tools then learn about the benefits of the Pre-Apprenticeship Program available to them in Palm Beach County schools.
This Multi Trade Construction Program information session will take place on Thursday, April 3, 2014 from 6:30 p.m.to 9 p.m. at the West Tech Center, Building 8 – 2625 State Road 715, Belle Glade, FL 33430. The Automotive Collision Repair and Refinishing Program
The Automotive Collision Repair and Refinishing Program provide hands-on training in a fully integrated, state-of-the-art facility. This Academy prepares students for employment in the auto body and refinishing industry and for post-secondary education. The program content includes the following: basic trade skills, refinishing skills, sheet metal repair skills, frame and unibody squaring and aligning, use of fillers, paint systems and undercoats, related welding skills, related mechanical skills, trim-hardware maintenance, glass servicing and other miscellaneous repairs. The course content also includes training in communication, leadership, human relations and employability skills and safe efficient work practices. There is no eligibility criteria required for students applying to this program.
The Construction Program prepares students for college and for employment in the building construction industry by providing the skills necessary to enter home-building, general contracting and related industries. This program focuses on broad transferable skills, stresses the understanding of all aspects of the building construction industry and demonstrates essential elements of the industry such as architecture, engineering, planning, management, finance, technical, and production skills. Incorporated in the curriculum are the underlying principles of technology, labor issues, community issues, health, safety and environmental issues. The Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, and Heating Technology Program
The Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, and Heating Technology Program prepare students for college or advanced industry training and for employment in the industry. This program focuses on broad transferable skills, stresses the understanding of the air conditioning, refrigeration and heating industry and demonstrates elements of the industry such as planning, management, finance, technical and production skills, as well as the underlying principles of technology, labor issues, community issues, health, safety and environmental issues. Upon completion of this program, the student will be prepared to take the state certification examination for air conditioning, refrigeration and heating mechanics. There is no eligibility criteria required for students applying to this program.
