One might mark the official start date for The British Invasion of America's pop music scene as Ferbruary 9th, 1964, when The Beatles first appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show. After that Sunday evening, pop music and pop culture would be forever altered in this country, as it had begun to be all around the world.
The first American record releases by this crop of English pop groups (as they were known before the word 'band' was applied to these small combos) had started in '63 and perhaps even earlier, but they had only minor impact until very late '63 into very early '64.
This list includes most, if not all, of the significant acts from the first wave of this invasion and an update on their musical journeys. Groups that didn't have a US chart record until 1965, were not included in this list.
