Spring is here with nature's colors appearing, and summer is coming with more bright colors. Cooking with kids is a good time to introduce colorful fruits and vegetables in preparing healthy snacks and meals. Books for children that feature colorful fruits and vegetables are a great way to call attention to all of the ingredients that can add color to a recipe.
Culinary Kids Academy in Sarasota is offering a summer camp for ages 3-6 that will feature favorite books with colorful ingredients for preparing recipes. Registration is now open for this camp that will be held June 25-27 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Colorful fruits and vegetables will be the centerpiece of preparing health snacks along with a favorite book about fruits and vegetables. you may register by calling 941-600-1464, or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org Their StoryBook Cooks camp will fill up fast, and class size is limited. The Culinary Kids Academy is located at 1734 Bamboo Lane in Sarasota.

Fruit race cars

1-2 cups sliced strawberries
1-2 cups sliced fresh yellow pears
1-2 cups sliced apples
1-2 cups sliced purple plums
1-2 cups sliced cherries

"Harold and the Purple Crayon" is a great choice to put some purple in your cooking.
Purple Cow Smoothies
2 cups vanilla ice cream
8 tbs. frozen grape juice concentrate
1 cup milk
1 cup ice
Blend and enjoy!
