Located between Hollister and Lake Taneycomo, off of Historic Highway 165 and U.S. 65, south of Branson, MO, the College of the Ozarks is a distinctive educational experience in the Ozarks region. Officially described as a private, Christian, liberal-arts college, the institution of 1,500 students has many characteristics that make it very special.
Offering over 30 four-year degree academic programs leading to either a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree, the College of the Ozarks is also a local leader in athletics and community involvement. The patriotic leadership programs they offer regularly are a significant draw for their targeted programs.
Each year, recently, the College has hosted, in early March, the National Division II Men's Basketball Tournament, using volunteers from the surrounding community and drawing parents, family and supporters of the various teams involved from around the United States. The annual tournament has become a sort of "kick off" to the Branson area tourism-related activities.
