College basketball's top 10 +1: William's Power Poll, week 3

Gonzaga is the best team out west, and they are in line for a number one seed.  The Bulldogs have 2 losses on the season, and lead the WCC by 2 games.  The Blue Devils are second in the ACC.  They are patiently waiting for the return of Ryan Kelly to the lineup on Senior night.  Duke is still 2 games behind the first place Hurricanes.  Indiana is the best team in the best conference.  Victor Oladipo is vying for National player of the year.  The Hoosiers get scoring from every position on the floor.  View the list »

While college basketball is seemingly becoming more confusing with each passing game, three teams have made a tremendous push over the last month of the season. St Louis is in a prime position to win the Atlantic 10 outright. Georgetown, finally took sole possession of first place after their victory over Syracuse. Gonzaga has been running through the WCC with relative ease.

The St. Louis Billikens lost two of their first three games in the Atlantic 10. Now St. Louis is sitting on top of the very strong conference with a (10-2) record. They have won 9 games in a row, and have a chance to earn a top 3 seed if they win out. Last week, the Billikens beat VCU and Butler, to solidify them as the best team.

Georgetown also has won nine games in a row. If the Hoyas win the Big East, they have a real shot at a number one seed. Otto Porter has put himself in position for player of the year.

As of now, Gonzaga is sitting on the top line for a number one seed. They are only playing for seeding the rest of the way. If they win out, Gonzaga will represent the west.

  • Indiana is the best team in the best conference.  Victor Oladipo is vying for National player of the year.  The Hoosiers get scoring from every position on the floor.

  • Michigan had a nice win over Illinois after a slow start.  They survived the gauntlet in the Big Ten and should be well rested for the postseason run.   
  • The Hoyas have a one game lead over three other Big East foes.  Georgetown is on a 9 game winning streak.  By the end of the year, could be vying for a number one seed.  
  • The Gators are going to win the SEC.  A couple setbacks on the road recently, but still could be the team to beat during the tourney.  
  • The Jayhawks avenged their loss to TCU.  They avenged their loss to Oklahoma State. Kansas has rebounded nicely from their three game losing skid.  
  • They are in a three-way tie for second place with Marquette and Syracuse.  The Cardinals are ending the season on a strong note.  
  • The Hurricanes still lead the ACC by 2 games, but took a horrible loss to Wake Forest.  They haven't been playing well as of late.  The loss could be the wake up call they need.  
  • They lost to Indiana and Ohio State this week.  Those losses have them drop in the poll, but they are still hanging on.  There fall could only be the result of scheduling.  Michigan State has time to turn it around.  
  • Like Georgetown, St. Louis has won 9 games in a row.  They lead the Atlantic 10, and completed a sweep of VCU and Butler last week.  Defensively, they are tough, and the Billikens pass the ball very well.  
  • The Wildcats have won three straight games to get back onto the power Poll.  Arizona is tied for first in the PAC 12 with Oregon.  They have three games left in conference.  Still an outside shot for a number one seed.
