Clouds, associated with a cold front moving slowly eastward from the lower Great Lakes, will begin to increase, thicken, and lower this morning. A brisk southerly to southeasterly breeze will also kick up through the morning and afternoon hours in advance of this feature. Showers associated with the cold front were just approaching Buffalo this morning. These showers will progress slowly eastward through the day today, entering into the Capital District around the late afternoon and early evening hours. Some of the rainfall associated with these showers could be locally heavy.
The bulk of the rainfall should occur during the evening and overnight period, with only some residual showers left early Sunday morning. In general, the second half of the weekend should turn out to be generally fair, dry, and brisk, as a northwesterly wind kicks up during the late morning and afternoon hours. With temperatures only expected to be in the 60’s, it will feel like an autumn’s day.
High pressure will build into the region on Sunday night, and last through the upcoming work week, bringing an extended stretch of fair and dry weather. Temperatures look to start the work week a little below normal, trending above normal by week’s end.
