Clover Patch Sanctuary helps Easter bunnies retire, find homes

Hi! I'm Rusty!

After delivering all of the eggs and baskets, where does the Easter Bunny go? For many homes, he goes to a shelter … is left outside in a pen … dumped in the wild … or placed on craigslist. This is why Clover Patch Sanctuary was created: to rehab and rehome bunnies that people decide they can no longer care for, or simply do not want, or the novelty has worn off and owners realize the animal requires care and work.

Clover Patch Sanctuary Inc. is a 501(c)3 Non Profit charity pledged to observe and practice the 3 "R's" as they call them: Rescue... Rehabilitate... Re-home. Clover Patch Sanctuary rescues injured and discarded domestic rabbits and guinea pigs, provides them with loving care and support and places them in "forever" homes. They also educate the general public on rabbits and rabbit care. Their rabbits are all litter box trained and are spayed or neutered to prevent breeding like … well, you know.

The organization provides a "Hopper" (person in a rabbit costume) for parties and fundraisers. They also have a new program, "Rent a Bunny," where the bunnies come to special events and visit. The organization feels this will prevent "novelty purchases" and "dumping" after the holidays. It is a great photo opportunity for everyone, and proceeds benefit Clover Patch.

Before adding a rabbit to your family (a ten year commitment), attend "Bunny Boot Camp." Clover Patch is the only Tennessee rabbit shelter offering this program. It allows potential adopters of all ages to learn how to properly care for a bunny: feeding, grooming, habitat, and basic health education.

If you are not prepared to adopt but want to help, consider being a foster parent. Bunny fosters receive food, medical costs, and a packet of information and items for both the foster "parents" and bunny. The organization will work with you in all ways to help.

For more information on adopting, fostering, education, and fun, click on the link below to contact Clover Patch Sanctuary. See the slideshow for adoptable bunnies and Guineas. Please do not purchase rabbits from pet stores or private dealers/ sellers. As you will see under "adoptables" there are many Easter bunnies seeking a permanent place (and Guinea pigs, too!). Now, that is a great gift for the season.
