Cleveland Indians invite six non-roster infielders to Spring Training camp

He has maintained a high batting average, as he's walked 72 times in 487 total plate appearances since 2010. He came to the Indians in a trade that sent C.C. Sabathia to Milwaukee.Characterized as a "AAAA player," LaPorta has shown great minor league success in the Indians' organization, but has struggled at times with the Tribe's big league  club.He was the team's primary first baseman in 2010 and 2011, combining for a .234 batting average in 217 games played. His meager .302 on-base percentage was helped by a decent amount of walks, but his hitting suffered from a wealth of strikeouts and inconsistency.

He stayed with the Tigers until signing as a free agent with the Indians in January.With his defensive versatility, Raburn appeared in 566 games for Detroit, most of which coming between 2008 and 2011. He had a limited role as a second baseman and corner outfielder in last year's team that reached the World Series.

He signed a minor league deal with the Indians this past offseason. He's been used primarily as a utility infielder, though he does have outfield experience. He appeared in a handful of major league games for the Boston Red Sox in 2011 and 2012, with no hits in eight at-bats.
