Chicago's weekly pet scene: Party, shop and adopt this week

There are many fun things to do this week to help the animals from a Grrrrrls Night out to a wine tasting to Bingo and some great adoption events. Learn more below on Chicago’s pet scene.

Thursday, February 7

It’s time for the annual Grrrrls Night Out from 6 to 9 p.m. for Alive Rescue at the g boutique at 2131 North Damen in Chicago. It’s a great night of shopping, hors d’oeuvres, drinks and a silent auction. Tickets are just $20 and it’s just in time to pick out something to make Valentine’s Day extra special.

Stop by the Fine Wine Brokers at 4621 North Lincoln Avenue in Chicago for a wine tasting benefit for Red Door from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $40 and there will be wine, hors d’oeuvres and great discounts. Ten percent of the evening’s sales benefit the shelter.

Friday, February 8

Head out for lunch or dinner at the Gale Street Inn from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. to Dine and Make a Difference to benefit Chicago Pet Rescue. Dine in or take out and they’ll donate 15 percent of the proceeds of your total bill. The Gale Street Inn is at 4914 North Chicago Avenue in Chicago.

Join Annie’s Little Angels at Little Joe’s at 1300 North Cedar in New Lenox for Bow Wow Bingo. Doors open at six and Bingo starts at 7 p.m. $21 includes all you can eat pizza, pop, 10 games of Bingo, great prizes and more. Check out the great vendors too.

Saturday, February 9

Meet Your Match at Chicago Animal Care and Control at 2751 South Western Avenue in Chicago from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Check out all the great dogs and cats looking for homes at CACC and save a life before Valentine’s Day.

Check out the wonderful dogs looking for homes at One Tail At a Time’s adoption event at Kriser’s at 1033 West Belmont from noon until 3 p.m.

Celebrate Valentine’s Day a little early and help out a good cause at the same time. The Fifth Annual Hearts and Hounds Celebration for Greyhounds Only will be at The Anti-Cruelty Society at 169 West Grand from 7 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $35 in advance and $40 at the door and includes appetizers, desserts, beverage and doggy treat buffet. There will be doggy play groups and adoptables – bring a blanket and muzzle for your dog. Get tickets here.

Sunday, February 10

Check out some of the animal welfare groups in Chicago that need volunteers at the Volunteer Expo at the Peggy Notebaert Museum in Lincoln Park from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
