Chicago's weekly pet scene: Bingo, Trivia, Pit Bull class and Cat Spa Day

There are many fun activities this week on Chicago’s pet scene. There will be HamBingo, a Pit Bull seminar, Cat Spa Day, Team Trivia and more adoption events at Collar and leash. Learn more below.

Monday, April 8

Get the week off on the right foot with HamBingo to help rescued pets of Famous Fido Rescue from 8 to 10 p.m. at Hamburger Mary’s at 5400 North Clark in Chicago. Stop by for the frequently risqué, always fun, event for food drinks and fun. A $15 donation gets you one bingo booklet and additional booklets are $10. Parking is good in the area and the Redline and Clark Street bus are nearby.

Thursday, April 11

There will be two workshops in Cook County this evening focusing on community cats and how you can help through registered Trap-Neuter-Return programs. They will cover working with local organizations, how you can help and socializing kittens rescued through programs and other topics.

Tree House Humane Society and The Anti-Cruelty Society will hold a workshop at the ACS headquarters on Thursday, April 11 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Contact: 773-784-5488 ext. 234 or tnr@treehouseanimals.org for more information.

Triple R Pets from West suburban Cook County will hold their monthly Willow Springs meeting on Thursday, April 11 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The workshop will be held at the public works building at 8261 Willow Springs Road.

Saturday, April 13 & Sunday, April 14

Chicago’s oldest pet store – Collar & Leash – will be hosting adoption events on Saturday and Sunday with various local pet rescues. The store at 1435 North Wells stopped selling dogs and cats on April1 to move to an adoption model.

Saturday, April 13

Found Chicago is hosting a Pit Bull seminar from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. to help potential owners and rescues understand the responsibilities of owning a pit bull type dog. The event will be at Found’s headquarters at 4108 North Rockwell and the cost is $40 per person. Purchase tickets online.

Chicago Party Animals is hosting its first cat-friendly event – a Cat Spa Day to benefit Tree House Humane Society from 1 to 4 p.m. at 1133 West Fulton Market. Tickets are $25 per person and $5 per cat and will include one spa treatment per ticket. There will be hair and make-up demonstrations, vendors and cool cat products. The Cat Spa services are being provided by Meeow Chicago. More details online.

It’s time to put all your useless information to use for Team Trivia supporting One Tail at a Time Rescue at Kincade’s Bar and Grill at 950 West Armitage in Chicago from 2 to 5 p.m. Twenty teams of two to five members will compete for great prizes. Team entry fees are $125 or VIP Teams are $200 (pitcher of beer, goodie bag and special seat next to the host). Vegetarian-friendly buffet is included. Go online for more information.

Harmony House for Cats 14th Annual Spring Dinner and Auction will be on Sunday, April 21. Reservations are due in on Monday, April 15. The event will be at Porretta’s Banquets at 37 18 North Central. Doors open for Hors d’Oeuvres, Cash Bar, Silent Auction and Kitty Korner at 11:30 a.m. and dinner is at 12:30 p.m. Learn more here and purchase tickets online.
