Chicago’s pet scene: HamBingo, Yappy Hour and more

There are a lot of fun events on tap from Bingo to Yappy Hour’s to Concerts and Red Carpet and adoption events. Check out the Chicago pet scene below.

Monday, March 4

It’s time for another addition of HamBingo at Hamburger Mary’s at 5400 North Clark Street in Chicago from 8 to 10 p.m. to benefit Tree House Humane Society. Suggested donation is $15 with prices awarded after each game.

Concerned citizens will be addressing the Lisle Village Board about the Puppy Parlor. The Companion Animal Protection Society will be outlining concerns about the conditions that dogs are being kept in at this location. The Puppy Parlor was one of the Pet Stores spotlighted by the Humane Society of the United States in December for purchasing dogs from puppy mills. It has been the sight of frequent protests by animal welfare advocates since then.

Wednesday, March 6

Stop by Paw Naturals at 932 West Monroe for a Yappy Hour from 6 to 9 p.m. There will be product samples, food and drink, and the opportunity to meet Dr. Barbara Royal – author of Royal Treatment.

Quenchers Bar and Grill at 2401 North Western Avenue in Chicago will host a benefit concert for Lulu’s Locker Rescue starting at 9 p.m. Tickets are just $5 and bands include In Threes, Kelroy and Me Jane.

Friday, March 8

Stop by Unity Lutheran Church at 1212 West Balmoral in Chicago starting at 6:30 for the Ark and Bark Mardi Gras Celebration and fundraiser for Famous Fido Rescue. A service will follow at 7:30. Learn more online or by calling 773-907-0305.

The Pony at 1638 West Belmont is going to the Dogs from 7:30 to 10:30. Join Chicago Canine Rescue as they come in to cheer on the Blackhawks. Tickets are $35 and covers some food, domestic drafts, well liquors and more. There will be a silent auction and more.

Saturday, March 9 and Sunday, March 10

Stop by the Unleashed at 5231 North Broadway for an adoption and community outreach event for Tree House Humane Society. Volunteers will be on hand to talk about Tree House and the work the organization does.

Saturday, March 9

Join the Chicago English Bulldog Rescue for their Hollywood Red Carpet Romp doggy meet up at the Dog Depot in Downers Grove at 635 Rogers. Cruise the red carpet with your pooch and enjoy the open house, doggy fashion show and more. Learn more online and tickets to this awesome event are just $5.

One Tail at a Time will host an adoption event form noon until 3 p.m. at Ruff Haus Pets at 4652 North Rockwell. Meet the adoptable pets looking for a new home.

Join Safe Humane Chicago and One Tail at a Time to celebrate their successes at Taverna at 750 W. Cornelia from noon until 3 p.m. Tickets are $50 and include food, bottomless mimosas, a brunch. Seating is limited – register in advance to beat the crowd.

Join Famous Fido Rescue at The Parlour Bar at 6341 North Clark starting at 8 p.m. for a Girl’s Best Friend fundraiser for the animals. Tickets are $10 with free Champaign from 8 to 9 and music by eXHo and Hag. There will be a silent auction and raffle as well to benefit the rescue.

Sunday, March 10

Join Animal Communicator Hope Black for a daylong seminar – Making the Connection – from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Alive rescue at 2227 West Belmont. Advance registration is required and the entry fee is $130. Email the organization info@aliverescue.org for more details.

Canine Massage Chicago will host a student clinic at Integrative Pet Care from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sessions will be 30-minutes each and pet parents must participate. A $5 donation is optional to the Lucida Puppy Fund. All dogs are welcome – schedule an appointment via email denise@caninemassagechicago.com.

Secondhand Snoots Rescue will be at Kriser’s For Your Pet’s All-Natural Life at 1640 North Milwaukee in Vernon Hills from 1 until 4 p.m. for an adoption event. Learn about the organization and meet their lovable adoptables.
