If you've been following my Examiner.com column, you know that I'm attending the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train event this week at Walt Disney World. Wednesday ended with a bang at Epcot...literally, as I watched Illuminations However, before the show, I attended a Rock Your Disney Side party. There was plenty of food and entertainment, and of course there were many Disney friends on hand to add to the festivities.
Check out the photos below to see all the characters who helped me rock my Disney side to kick off the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train event in style. If you missed my first post about this event, you'll find it here. There's lots more adventures to come in the coming days, so stay tuned! You can also follow at at @themeparkwriter on Twitter.
Festival of Fantasy
Several characters were on hand from the Festival of Fantasy Parade at the Magic Kingdom. The new parade debuted earlier this year, and I love all the floats and characters, but I have to admit that the Sleeping Beauty contingent is my favorite. I got up close and personal with some of them at the Rock Your Disney Side party.
Mickey and Minnie
Mickey and Minnie Mouse were out in their format attire to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Disney's Hollywood Studios. I remember that park from back in the day when it was a real working studio, and I still fondly remember classic attractions like Monster Sound Show and Superstar Television from its earliest days.
I love the living statues at Disney, so I was pleased to see them on hand at the Rock Your Disney Side party. They're always a great photo opportunity, although even more so when they're out in the parks and people have no clue that they're not real statues.
Festival of the Lion King
Festival of the Lion King will re-open soon at Disney's Animal Kingdom in a new theater. Meanwhile, some of the performers were on hand at the Rock Your Disney Side party. If you've never seen that show, I highly recommend it. It's high energy and pure fun.
Goofy was on hand at the Rock Your Disney Side party to promote Blizzard Beach, one of Disney's two water parks (the other is Typhoon Lagoon). Summer seems to be coming early to Florida this year, so the water parks are a great spot to cool off when you're feeling tired and sweaty and in need of a nice little break.
Anna and Elsa
Seeing Anna and Elsa was a great surprise! I saw Olaf and thought he was the only "Frozen" photo opportunity at the party. I was posing with him, and suddenly Anna and Elsa were both at my side! It was a real highlight of the Rock Your Disney Side festivities for me.
