This morning the official cast for the first adaptation of the Fallenseries by Lauren Kate has been announced. Author Lauren Kate announced the main cast plus major supporting characters on her website. While there are still some minor characters to be cast, it looks like production is going a head with making this film.
In this book series, we follow Lucinda Price who is starting at a new boarding school, Sword and Cross, after she accidentally lights a beach house on fire, killing someone in the process. She doesn’t know why, but she can’t help the pull that she feels for Daniel, despite the fact that he’s mean to her. As she starts to uncover the secrets of the school, she quickly learns that there may be more to Daniel’s story then she sees.
Young Adult series have been bombing as a whole at the box office. The latest book to be adapted, Divergent, has done decently well so far, but the few before that (The Mortal Instruments, Vampire Academy) have bombed. It will be interesting to see how this movie will do in theaters.
Below is the list of the cast starting with the lead characters and working down to the major supporting characters.
Fallen has started production and is looking for a release sometime in 2015.
What do you think of the cast?
Addison Timlin as Lucinda
Addison Timlin is an up and coming actress. She got her start in Derailed and played a few roles in small movies. She had starred in short lived TV show Zero Hour and recently starred in That Awkward Moment.
Timlin will play the lead character in this movie with the attempt to be the one that will draw in the audiences (with the help of her Daniel). Lucinda Price is a very complex and emotional character and it’s going to be interesting to see Timlin perform this role.
Jeremy Irvine as Daniel
Jeremy Irvine got his break in the World War II movie War Horse. He has done some smaller roles since then. Besides this role, his next major role is in The Woman in Black sequel, Angel of Death, set to come out in 2015.
Irvine has been cast as the heartthrob Daniel, the essential love interest for Lucinda. Daniel is a fallen angel who has to watch the love his life die over and over again every time that they kiss. Obviously his character is very torn with his love for Lucinda and filled with pain and anguish.
Harrison Gilbertson as Cam
Harrison Gilbertson is an up and coming actor as well, just getting his break in the recently released Need for Speed. While the movie didn’t do too well, it was able to get Gilbertson an opportunity to take on this role.
Gilbertson plays bad boy Cam who seeks to try and keep Lucinda and Daniel apart. He can be thought of as one of the villains of the books, but he is kind of like Loki in Thor. You can’t help but kind of root for him. He also serves as part of the love triangle that kind of exists in the first book of the series.
Lola Kirke as Penn
Lola Kirke hasn’t done much up until now. Her only big role came in as a guest star on Law and Order: SVU but Kirke is set to star in Gone Girl which is set to come out in October.
Kirke is playing Penn, Lucinda’s best friend and perhaps the only friend that she has at Sword and Cross. Because her deceased father was the groundskeeper, she knows where to get all the dirt, especially on Daniel.
Sianoa Smit-McPhee as Molly
Sianoa Smit-McPhee has starred on two TV shows, Neighbours and Hung, which have given her some success. She recently guest starred in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Criminal Minds and has another movie, Mall, set to come out later this year.
Smit-McPhee’s Molly is kind of like Cam. She is an antagonist for Lucinda and kind of makes it her goal to make Lucinda’s life like Hell at school. She tries to keep Daniel and Lucinda away not because she likes him but because she wants Daniel to side with Lucifer.
Daisy Head as Arianne
Daisy Head has done a lot of small roles, not really getting her big break until the TV show Proxy. This will likely be her first well-known role.
Head is going to be playing Arianne who is another fallen angel who becomes friends with Lucinda. She is the one that has sided with God.
Hermione Corfield as Gabbe
Hermione Corfield is a new actress. This is going to be her second role but she is going to be starring in the new movie Maleficent this summer.
Corfield is playing Gabbe who is essentially the competition to Lucinda (at least in her eyes). Lucinda believes that she is dating Daniel, but they are really just good friends. She tries to help him with what he needs, including savings Lucinda.
Malachi Kirby as Roland
Malachi Kirby has done a lot of TV spots and small roles in TV movies, nothing on the big side. This will be his first major role.
Kirby is playing another fallen angel Roland. While he follows and swears himself to Lucifer, he’s a lot nicer then the other angels that have sworn allegiance to Lucifer.
Chris Ashby as Todd
Chris Ashby is another new actor that doesn’t have a lot of credits to his name. He has done a few TV spots, but this looks to be his first big role.
Ashby will be playing Todd, who becomes friends with Lucinda when she arrives at the school.
