Week 7 of the NFL season is centered around Indianapolis on Oct. 20. It would have been this way even if Indianapolis Colts’ owner Jim Irsay didn’t dig at Peyton Manning’s playoff failures earlier in the weeks. Manning still has two months before he can try to correct that with the Denver Broncos, but first he has to get through the regular season -- although Andrew Luck and the Colts want to give them their first speed bumps.
The Broncos have been perfect through six weeks in almost every way possible, and will get Von Miller back to strengthen their occasionally spotty defense. Of course, with Manning’s offense on pace to break several NFL records, Denver’s defense has had a lot of leeway.
Luck and the Colts need to keep up, and not just to prove Irsay’s past decisions right. He looked fairly smart in the first five weeks of the season, when Indianapolis was 4-1 with wins over the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers. But since the Colts got caught looking past the San Diego Chargers on Oct. 14, they now need an upset over the Broncos to keep their cushion in the AFC South.
There are still 12 other NFL games on Oct. 20 before Manning’s eventful return. Here is a list of the best and worst showdowns of the day and night.
