This coming weekend of September 21 and 22, 2013 will be another busy one as the fall racing season is in full stride.
Runners will have a choice between several local 5k’s and 5 mile races on both Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday September 21, 2013 there is a brand new 5 miler – The Howell Township 5 Miler. Pete Bruno of Howell, N.J. is the Race Director for the event. Pete is on the Board of Contact of Monmouth and Ocean Counties. CONTACT provides 24/7 Crisis Intervention and Suicide Prevention support to include a hotline. He is staging the event with support of the Board to help raise some money to continue the invaluable work of CONTACT in both Monmouth and Ocean Counties.
Pete is a frequent participant in local races for many years and this is his first experience directing a race. He says, “I did not realize it would be so much work but Howell Township has been very supportive.” The course according to Pete should be exciting with a 5 mile loop around the Ramtown section of Howell which includes some gentle rolling hills. The local Elks Lodge is also assisting with the event.
