Bonnie Franklin died at age 69 from complications with pancreatic cancer, reported TMZ on March 1. The actress of the '80s “One Day at a Time" television show announced her recent battle with cancer in a public statement last September 2012.
Franklin played the character of “Ann Romano” during the ‘70s-‘80s longest hit comedy show on television.
The show portrayed a sassy divorced mother of two daughters – actresses MacKenzie Phillips played “Julie Cooper” and Valerie Bertinelli played as “Barbara Cooper.”
The “One Day at a Time” hit television comedy sitcom addressed serious life issues as a non-traditional family such as dealing with sexual harassment, virginity, rape, drugs, and surrogacy parenting.
The building’s superintendent character of the show “Dwayne Schneider,” played by Pat Harrington, added a twist of comic relief to the show’s often controversial topics.
Bonnie Franklin was married to movie producer, Marvin Minoff for 29 years until his death in 2009; they had no children together.
