“While I believe I have the authority to take military action without specific Congressional authorization, I know that the country will be stronger if we take this course and our actions will be even more effective,” Obama said. “We should have this debate because the issues are too big for business as usual.”
The Vice President:
“… the president HAS NO CONSTITUTIONAL AUTHORITY to take this country to war against a country of 70 million people unless we're attacked or unless there is proof that we are about to be attacked. And if he does, I would move to impeach him. The House obviously has to do that, but I would lead an effort to impeach him. The reason for my doing that -- and I don't say it lightly, I don't say it lightly. “
“those who use chemical weapons against defenseless men, women and children should and must be held accountable,”
Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei:
"Starting this fire will be like a spark in a large store of gunpowder, with unclear and unspecified outcomes and consequences"
. Retired U.S. General James Mattis:
"We have no moral obligation to do the impossible and harm our children’s future because we think we just have to do something."
Syrian refugee Um Ahmad:
"Isn't it enough, all the violence and fighting that we already have in the country, now America wants to bomb us, too?"
British Prime Minister David Cameron:
"This is not about wars in the Middle East; this is not even about the Syrian conflict," he said. "It's about use of chemical weapons and making sure, as a world, we deter their use and we deter the appalling scenes we've all seen on our television screens.”
Last week, Obama reverses himself and says that he’s not gonna go into Syria. Remember, they’re using nerve gas. John Kerry goes out there, 1,500 people, 2,400 people, a lot of kids, nerve gas, sarin gas, got the proof. Look, I’m gonna get into all the hypocrisy. Yes, Kerry dining with Bashar back in 2009 and talking about what a great guy Bashar was. The bottom line is this administration is as incompetent as Jimmy Carter. There’s only one difference. If there were anybody else running this administration right now, this would be reported as incompetent and as buffoonish and as frightening at Jimmy Carter’s.”
