“Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:10)
God has called believers to do righteous acts. Righteous do not save them, but they are a result of their faith in Jesus. The love of God in their hearts compels them to do right and go the extra mile. They cannot help themselves because the Spirit of God lives in them. The fruit on their tree is good. Good flows from their Holy Spirit filled heart.
It is unfortunate that some choose to dislike and hate them. They are treated differently, wrongly, etc. It is because of doing the right thing. Some have gone to extremes to persecute them. Books have been written about believers in Jesus suffering for righteousness. Jail, physical encounters, and even death are just a few of the inappropriate behavior.
What is believer’s response? They get their cue from the Holy Bible and pray for them. They respond with forgiveness, love, and kindness. Prayers are for their persecutors to know Jesus. Heaven belongs to these saints of God.
Challenge: Believers, be doers of the Word, go to heaven! “But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,” (Matthew 5:44)
