Bipolar disorder: Kailyn Lowry, Catherine Zeta-Jones and other stars

Kailyn Lowry, 20, of MTV's "Teen Mom 2" suffers from bipolar disorder, as reported by Yahoo! OMG! on Feb. 1, 2013. "My mom is bipolar and it turns out that I am too," said Lowry. Kailyn, mother of three-year-old Isaac with ex-boyfriend Jo Rivera, will begin medical treatment soon.

Bipolar disorder "causes dramatic mood swings-from feeling overly 'high' and/or irritable to sad and hopeless, and then back again, often with periods of normal mood in between. Severe changes in energy and behavior go along with these episodes," reports Brain & Behavior Research Foundation. "It is often not recognized as an illness, and people may suffer for years before it is properly diagnosed and treated."

In the world of celebrities, the disease has been found among the actresses, actors and singers who entertain us. One famous name is Catherine Zeta-Jones, 43. On April 13, 2011, People magazine reported that the actress sought treatment for Bipolar II disorder.
