Most people are aware that nine movies have been nominated for Best Picture in the 2013 Oscar Race which will culminate at the 85th Academy Awards Show to be aired February 24, 2013. The movies are Amour, Argo, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Django Unchained, Les Miserables, Life of Pi,nLincoln, Silver Linings Playbook and Zero Dark thirty.

The excitement surrounding this year's competition caused this writer to investigate what movies were considered the biggest flops in 2012. The list will likely include something for most everyone: children's films, comedy, musical, science fiction and one based on a board game.

Don't assume all box office flops are terrible movies, although some surely are. Some may be terrific but just failed to measure up to pre-release expectations.
