Every year at CES in Las Vegas, technology seems to take substantial leaps and bounds. The smartphone world this year at CES saw many reveals for 2014 that have many of us excited. From new handsets, smart-watches, applications, or accessories to compliment our smartphones. We sure are in for a treat this year. Here is a list of the best Smartphone tech from CES 2014.
The original Pebble Smart watch was a big hit this past year. The Pebble steel takes last years model and refines it. Steel design, Corning Gorilla Glass, LED light. Same size screen with E-Paper and also same size internals. A small bump in memory 4GB to 8GB and you have a true top notch smart watch. I will definitely be ordering one of these units this Feb for $249. Also the Pebble App Store launches this month so you will have plenty of new apps to mess around with once your Steel arrives.
Sony Xperia Z1
Sony has some hot devices up for grabs this year. The Sony Xperia Z1 is Sony's flagship device and should appeal to many who want the best specs out as well as a unique design.
The specs are
-5 inch TFT capacitive touch screen, rendering 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution.
-144 x 74 x 8.5 mm dimensions and weighs 170 grams
-is equipped with a 2.2 GHz quad core krait 400 processor and Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 chipset
-16 GB of internal memory, which can be expanded by up to 64 GB using a Micro SD card
-20.7 MP primary camera with autofocus and LED flash. The secondary camera on the device is 2 MP
-Li-Ion 3000 mAh battery
The included specs should hold its own against the current offerings by LG and Samsung. The phone design as stated is top notch and very sleek. Sony intended this to be a phone that could withstand dust and water submergence with relative ease. It looks awesome.
Sony announced that the in-store release date for the Xperia Z1S (Z1 T-Mobile Variant) is set for Jan. 22, with online pre-orders available and shipping set to begin on Monday, Jan. 13.
Sony Xperia Z Compact
The Sony Xperia Z Compact is a compact version of the previous stated Sony Z1. Few key details that set it a part are
- 4.3-inch 720p display.
-Z1 Compact will have the same Snapdragon Krait 800 as the XperiaZ1
-20-megapixel camera which is the same as the Z1
-Smaller battery than the Z1 at 2,300 mAh.
This should be a great choice for many who love a "compact" device but with higher end specs.
The Compact is on sale in Euro retailers as of this writing but not yet available in the USA.
