Nonprofits and organizations that help others are the heartbeat of any community. From volunteers to donors each member pours out their hearts to help those in need and who are less fortunate. The organizations around the Dallas/Fort Worth areas are no exception to having a big heart. They care about each person that use their services.
Here's this year's Best Organizations/Nonprofits of 2013:
Team Fort Worth
Team Fort Worth is an organization that is all about its kids. For more than 20 years this organization has played a pivotal role in the lives of many Fort Worth and surrounding area children and teens, many of whom received full college athletic scholarships. TFW plays across the country in NCAA sanctioned events hosted by Nike, Adidas and other major sporting outlets. Despite having many issues in recent years with facilities and finances, TFW continues to support the community and encourage students to be their best on and off the court.
Dads-Fathers of Texas
Dads-Fathers of Texas created more opportunities for fathers to get access to their children with of Do-it-Yourself Packages, Parent Child Enrichment Programs and more. In addition to helping fathers they now have a media outlet to tell their stories, get national attention and share their experiences to other coming behind them, so as not to make the same mistakes. Starting January 2014 Dads-Fathers will be training those who have made thinking errors and charged with a family violence case. They can now help them learn from their mistakes and help keep the charge off their records.
Minnie's Food Pantry
Giving is at the heart of Minnie’s Food Pantry. They are one of the many food banks in North Texas that offers underprivileged families and individuals an opportunity to receive healthy meals. Minnie’s is a community treasure and treats every person they serve in the community with red carpet service. Minnie’s Food Pantry is 100 percent donor-funded. All of their support comes from individuals, corporations, churches and organizations that have been touched by the impact we have made in our community.
Leaders of Tomorrow
Having a place for your child to exemplify excellence in business and their overall education is a rare gem but the Leaders of Tomorrow Dallas Chapter is certainly a start. LOT has been recognized by the National Association of Black MBAS for being the go-to organization for youths ages 13-18 or 9th -12th graders in the North Texas area. Operated by volunteers and parents, LOT teaches their students about business, education, etiquette and prepares them for the world class Case Competition, which this chapter has won for three years in a row.
Fierce Pearls a wonderful organization that helps young girls and women of the urban and ethnically diverse communities of Dallas, Ft. Worth areas that are going through transitions in life. By doing workshops, seminars, and purpose driven focus groups to ensure their needs are met, Fierce Pearls is encouraging these young girls and women to look beyond their circumstance and see their greatest potential. So that courageous, compassionate, fearless individuals are born with a clearer outlook on life. Altogether becoming a Fierce Pearl!
