Best and Worst Reviewed DVDs in 2013

See also

Here is a belated look at this examiner's best reviewed/favorite movies that saw DVD releases in 2013.

After that initial list, we also get a look at the worst reviewed/least favorite movies that came out on DVD in 2013.

Keep in mind that there may have been movies reviewed during 2013 that were better and worse than the ones listed here but they were all over a year old and thus, ineligible.

Also bear in mind the fact that there are many movies that were released, should have been seen and would have had places on here. Obviously, only movies seen by me in 2013 are up for consideration.

With all of that said, enjoy my flawed list! Perhaps it will inspire some of you to see something that you missed, and to continue avoiding something that you have missed up until now.

In no particular order:

Best

Before Midnight
The Conjuring
Wreck-It Ralph
Silver Linings Playbook
John Dies At The End
Django Unchained
The Perks of Being a Wallflower
Skyfall
Seven Psychopaths
Looper

Worst

A Good Day to Die Hard
Only God Forgives
Cosmopolis
Passion
Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters
Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2

Leave a comment if you are so inclined. Let me know if there is something out there that I should have seen or if there is something here that you disagree with.

Seven Psychopaths

Seven Psychopaths

'Seven Psychopaths' was a gloriously violent, extremely funny and supremely meta action movie that displayed more brains than most entries in the genre.  A great cast.

'Looper'

'Looper'

Time travel movies always have flaws in their logic and 'Looper' is no exception.  That said, it is also one of the more entertaining action films of the year.

'The Perks of Being A Wallflower'

'The Perks of Being A Wallflower'

'The Perks of Being A Wallflower' might not capture everyone's high school experience, but it sure ring true for enough people.  If you didn't read the novel, the twist at the end might surprise you but this is a dandy film.

'Cosmopolis'
'Cosmopolis' amazon.com

'Cosmopolis'

'Cosmopolis' was a novel that many said would be impossible to adapt into a movie.  David Cronenberg is good, but they might have been right.

'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2'

'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2'

'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2' is the half of the final story where things actually happen, sort of.  The last book was needlessly drawn-out and was a clear way to take advantage of fans...and the curious who were strung along this entire time.
