Babies are being born every day. Each has a unique identity with his or her own DNA and fingerprints. They develop at different rates and have experiences according to their family, environment, etc. They drink milk, then infant cereal, baby food, and then solid foods. The crawling along the floor, then first steps that turn into walking, and later running across the yard. Talking begins to take place with sounds and simple words to say until one day making sentences is no problem. Kids keep growing, experience new activities, and generally make mistakes. They become mature adults along the way.
God calls believers His children. Those beginning a relationship with Jesus are called babes in Christ. Believers keep growing until they reach maturity. The Holy Bible states, “Until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining in the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”(Ephesians 4:13) Maturity means the ability to understand knowledge and have the correct application of it during an experience.
Believers grow and understand the Word of God. Prayer, Bible study, Scripture memory, and fellowship with other believers are ways to aid the growth. These are ways to get more solid food to do God’s will. The Scripture states, “But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.”(Hebrews 5:14) Challenge: Believer, examine yourself to see if you are growing. The Word of God says that you should develop enough to be teachers.
“In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food!”(Hebrews 5:12)
“Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” James 1:4
