BattleTech Technical Readouts: Know your war machines

As every tabletop gamer is well aware, each RPG system has a book, or in many cases a set of books, as its fundamental basis for existence. In addition to its rulebooks, BattleTech derives its material from Technical Readouts (TROs). These compile the names, descriptions and technical specifications of BattleMechs, vehicles, aerospace fighters, warships, infantry, and many other types of units, weapons and equipment in the BattleTech universe.

Each TRO is based on a specific time era which is indicated in the publication's title. TROs are generally available in printed and electronic formats. The variety of publishers involved in TRO production reflect several changes in ownership of the BattleTech franchise since its inception.

Artwork in the TROs tends to vary between books, and every BattleTech aficionado has his or her own favorite images. Some of the units are in color, e.g., the Inner Sphere Omnis in Technical Readout 3058.
