I was thrilled to have the chance to sample Fogo de Chao's brand new bar menu at the International Drive location, and it gets a big thumbs up from me, but I don't want to neglect their usual offerings. If you'd like to see the bar appetizers, you'll find them in this article. For a peek at some of the adult beverages, go here.
The new offerings are a logical extension of the menu, but at its core, Fogo de Chao is all about the meat. It's served by gauchos who bring it right to your table and serve it, hot and fresh, off a skewer. In addition to the beef, lamb, pork, chicken, and sausage, there's also an extensive salad bar to offset the meat coma. You also get sides like rice and plantains, just in case you were feeling you might not get enough to eat.
Check out photos of the meat and salads, but be warned: if you haven't had dinner yet, you're likely to be drooling by the end. That's true even if you're a vegetarian, as the salad bar is a perfect spot to graze on fresh, delicious veggies even if you never touch a bite of the meat.
Greeted by meat
You're greeted by delicious roasting meat as soon as you arrive at Fogo de Chao. You'll see this display through the window as you approach the front door.
Extensive salad bar
Look at that salad bar! It will tempt you, and there's plenty to enjoy, but don't fill yourself up. Remember, there's a lot of meat still to come.
Lots of options
The Fogo de Chao salad bar features lots of options, including vegetables and freshly made salads. There's something to please the pickiest palate, as well as those who enjoy an upscale experience.
I absolutely love the fresh vegetables, like that jumbo asparagus. The veggies at Fogo de Chao go beyond what you'd find on your typical salad bar.
Save your appetite
You can see why it's so hard to save your appetite when you're turned loose on the Fogo de Chao salad bar. It has so many options that you'll want to try. Take small portions to save room for the meat.
Something for vegetarians
If you have vegetarians in your party, they're welcome to order the salad bar, with no meat, at a discounted price. They'll find plenty to eat while the carnivores in your party enjoy the roasted flesh.
Some of the salad offerings at Fogo de Chao might seem fancy to meat and potatoes type, but there are plenty of typical salads, too, like this Cesar.
The salad bar actually does have some meat, along with some cheese offerings, if you enjoy that sort of thing. I love dry cured meat like prosciutto, and I never met a cheese I didn't like, so I always grab something from this part of the salad bar.
If you enjoy fish, you'll also find salmon on the salad bar. It's very tasty, and if your taste for seafood doesn't get sated, you can order Chilean Sea Bass on the dinner menu.
Skewers of meat
This is what you need to save your appetite for! Look at that delicious skewer of freshly roasted meat. I've seen the kitchen where it's prepared, and believe me, it's a busy place as those tasty skewers come off the flames and head out into the dining room.
All you can eat
The gauchos keep the meat coming until you say, "No more!" You have a table coaster that you keep with the green side up when you're still hungry. Turn it to the red side when you just can't handle any more.
