Acrobats in gold spandex and sequins, exciting cornering, close-in flag work, and dancing musicians added entertainment value to the four 2014 Rose Parade marching bands profiled in this article. The excitement these groups create and the outstanding musicianship show that the many awards they have received are well-deserved.
They are Claudia Taylor “Lady Bird” Johnson High School Marching Band from San Antonio, Texas (which we will shorten to “C.T. Johnson” in further references), Nagoya Minami High School Green Band from Nagoya, Aichi, Japan, Dobyns-Bennett High School Marching Indian Band from Kingsport, Tenn., and Westfield High School Marching Bulldogs from Chantilly, Va.
