Ravens’ fans across the state of Md. braved the snowy Feb. weather to come together dressed in their favorite purple passion pride outfits at Super Bowl Friday rallies held across the state yesterday.
"Today Show" host Natalie Morales graced Baltimore’s Inner Harbor at one rally and performed a reasonable facsimile of Ray Lewis’ "squirrel dance."
Many fans at the Inner Harbor yesterday were geared-up in purple from head to toe according to The Baltimore Sun.
With snow coming down, high winds blowing off the frigid Baltimore Harbor, and morning temperatures in the teens, fans didn't seem to care. They were there to show their appreciation to their Super Bowl XLVII team.
"When you're a Ravens fan, it doesn't matter — you're a Ravens fan," Hopkins-Rheubottom said. "Isn't that right, Baltimore!"
While “Today’s” Natalie Morales was in Baltimore joined by Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, Al Roker was in California with San Francisco Mayor Edwin M. Lee.
Morales and Roker shared the friendly wager the Super Bowl mayors made on the outcome of Sunday’s game as the “mayor of the losing city will travel to the winning city to complete a service project with AmeriCorps members.”
Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake said:
"We wanted to do something different, something that had a wider impact on the community."
"We do a lot of work with AmeriCorps. They're very helpful to me in my efforts to grow Baltimore by 10,000 families. People want to feel engaged in the community and this gives people a great way to do it — and it will give Mayor Lee a great way to experience Baltimore."
To which San Francisco Mayor Edwin M. Lee countered:
“The Niners don’t always go to the Super Bowl, but when they do, they win.”
“Behind the leadership of Coach Jim Harbaugh, the Red & Gold are going to finish the job against the Ravens, bringing home the City’s sixth Lombardi Trophy!”
Additionally, the losing mayor will visit the local crab market, don the jersey of the winning team, and crack the region’s well known crustacean – Dungeness Crab in San Francisco or Blue Crab in Baltimore.
