With the addition of Matt Hasselbeck to the pool, the backup quarterback market is starting to heat up today. Hasselbeck declined to reduced his $5.5 million due on the final year of his contract with the Tennessee Titans—who have Jake Locker as their starter—which prompted the team to part ways with the 37-year old veteran.
Hasselbeck has received immediate interest from nearly a dozen teams, including a pair of teams that do not have a declared starter. However, he is not the only potential backup signal caller who has seen the spotlight within the past 24 hours.
Former Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel recently signed with the Minnesota Vikings to back up Christian Ponder, but others who have received interest are yet to signed a contract, such as those in this list.
