The summer is coming to an end, which means school is about to be back in session. There are many movies that depict the lives of teenagers as they navigate through the rite of passage and unique time that is high school. Some films do a better job than others. From the competitive race for student council from "Election," to how to be popular without selling your soul, and even just realizing maybe the weird kids or geeks at the school aren't really much different from you. Some of the movies are timeless classics and others are more recent takes on how to survive, while others are just clever parodies of literature.
While most of these films are a little dated in technology and fashion, the message is still clear even in today's world. Some honorable mention films include "High School Musical," "Napoleon Dynamite," "Friday Night Lights," "Fame," "Footloose," "Rock n' Roll high School," "Rushmore," and "School of Rock." The following is a list of the top ten best films that portray what the perils and triumphs of high school can be.
