Now that the kids are back in school, it’s time for Home Chef Continuing Education. Let’s see if we can enhance our plain old cooking with some healthy and exciting new foods, using the alphabet for inspiration.
Probably most of us buy “a” foods such as avocados and artichokes. Does arugula find its way to your lunch and dinner table? Called rocket in some areas of the world, it’s a flavorful green which you can add to salads or as a garnish under cooked meats, vegetables, and grains. Moving on to the next letter, after you’ve put bananas in your grocery cart, add some bok choy, which is Chinese cabbage. The letter “c” takes us beyond carrots and celery to collard greens, which, because of their deep green color, we know are loaded with good-for-you vitamins and minerals.
Follow the alphabet through the grocery store with Food and Recipes Examiner and learn about the health benefits of eating by the letter! We’ll continue learning our ABCs with the next post.
