'Bachelor' 2013 Sean Lowe hit the home town dates with great enthusiasm when episode nine from season 17 aired on Feb. 18. The final four bachelorettes, AshLee, Lindsay, Catherine, and Desiree (Des) all welcomed him with open arms. Their families all had mixed reactions.
The first home date of the night was with AshLee (32) from Houston, Texas. She and Sean spent the day together in her hometown having a picnic and enjoying some quiet time alone. Dinner was with AshLee's adoptive parents. Both her mom and dad offered Sean their blessing if he decides to ask for AshLee's hand in marriage.
AshLee's dad, a pastor like Sean's father, spoke of her first marriage:”"It was a sad day in my life. If I had to do it over I would have done some things different."
Sean seemed to need some information on the type of man AshLee had first married, He appeared content with her father's response.
Next was Sean's hometown date with Catherine (26) in Seattle. Washington. Sean and Catherine spent the day in a local marketplace, having lunch and mingling with the locals. They had fun dancing to banjo music, catching fish at the fish marker and adding a wad of gum to a wall of chewed up gum!
A visit with Catherine's family left Sean with doubts as to whether Catherine is really ready for marriage. While here mother and grandmother were somewhat supportive of their relationship, Catherine's sisters had strong opinions on their sister. They filled in on Catherine being messy, moody, and dreamy. Sean Lowe left this hometown date fulls of doubts.
Army brat Lindsay (24) was on the list next for home dates. Sean visited Lindsay and her family in Waynseville, MO. While intimated to meet both her parents, Sean was most nervous about meeting Lindsay's father, a two-star army general and veteran paratrooper. It turns out he was very approachable and offered Sean his blessing were he to decided Lindsay is the woman for him.
Lindsay prepped Sean for the family visit by putting him through a 'grueling' boot-camp training. They really seemed to enjoy their time together.
The last home date of the night was with Desiree (26) (Des) from Los Angeles, California. After spending the day walking outdoors and having lunch, Sean and Des made dinner for her family at her apartment.
The first shocker of the evening came when Des pulled off a rather successful practical joke on Sean. She tricked him into thinking she had an ex-boyfriend knocking at door. Just when you thought Sean was about to punch the guy, she says 'gotcha'! Her practical joke was payback for when he tricked her into thinking she had broken priceless art.
Things go south when her brother, Nathan, calls Sean a 'playboy' and 'fraud'. Sean is really angry and almost immediately shuts down. While he finishes dinner with Desiree and her parents, you can tell his heart is no longer in it. Heartbroken he leaves.
At the rose ceremony the next night, Desiree makes a desperate please to apologize to Sean. At this point, Sean seems to have made up his mind.

Next week, Sean and the final three bachelorettes head to Thailand for their overnight dates. Tune in as “The Bachelor” gets closer to getting engaged.
