Fashion designer b Michael presented his b michael AMERICA Couture Spring 2014 runway show of womenswear and menswear, during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2014 in New York City. This collection was inspired by Modern Impressionism, after the designer's visit to Giverny, the garden and chateau of painter Claude Monet, who was one of the fathers of modern impressionist painting.
The runway show consisted of forty-four outfits, thirty-two of which for women and twelve for men. The menswear is made-to-measure and is available by appointment through the b michael AMERICA Atelier. The entire collection was divided into a series of seven mini collections presented in this order: Monet Palette, menswear Whimsical Palette, Monet Fantasy Palette, menswear Giverny Chic, Black Floral Fantasy, menswear Formal Garden, and finally womenswear Formal Garden.
One of the most appealing dresses is sage/moss embossed silk, off-the-shoulder back draped collar sheath from the Monet Palette collection. Its close fit, shapes the body nicely, and the wrap collar is a fashion forward detail by Mr. Michael. A sexy black, crescent embroidered organza Mermaid skirt; with a wisteria, organza tiered ruffle collar blouse from the Black Floral Fantasy collection was another noticeable dress. The semi-transparent blouse provides a potent dose of youth and sensuality.
A cool menswear outfit that James Bond would definitely wear is a Monet blue, embossed silk, shawl collar jacket, black silk/wool Hollywood trouser, and a white, cotton pique shirt from the men's Formal Garden collection. Model, speaker, runway and beauty pageant coach Lu Sierra closed the show, walking the runway in a Monet blue/turquoise/teal silk mikado, billowed tiered gown from the women's Formal Garden collection. The sweet-heart bust line of the dress is enticing; and the intricate details of the glove are captivating.
It was a very impressive collection. Click on link to view the complete b michael AMERICA Couture Spring 2014 collection.
